About Us

WHAT IS TRAINING ADAM?

Training Adam is a spiritual non-profit with a peculiar vision: replanting humanity. Imagine humanity as a giant tree. We exist to tend that tree — its roots, its branches, its fruit. We believe humans are existentially and spiritually struggling in our postmodern, tech-infested, earth-separated world, and we are devoted to helping people dream, sketch, and try a different way of being human. Training Adam has six main branches. Three of them have their own dedicated initiatives below — here are the other three.

Rethinking Human.
We tease out the spiritual dimension of individual humans and our emergent connection to humanity as a whole. Dream it, sketch it, try it — rethinking what it means to be human through a philosophy of loving humans from the outside in.
Grow Up and Play.
Humans should not grow out of play — and true play should graduate into meditation. We bridge the generational divide through co-play, active LARPing, and creative RPG adventures that bring parents, children, and grandparents together.
Trash to Treasure: Clean and Restored.
We receive what others consider trash, restore and refurbish it into something beautiful, then redeploy it to fund our initiatives or give it as a gift to those in need. We also run cleaning services and a mobile cleaning unit to fund our work — clean and restored.
Shed Lite.
Shed Lite converts donated sheds into outdoor rooms, greenhouses, playhouses and garden structures that put people back into nature and reduce waste.
Permaculture Plants SC.
Permaculture Plants SC teaches sustainable gardening, food forests, and regenerative landscapes so communities can grow food locally and thrive together.
Tiny Village Healing Farms.
Tiny Village Healing Farms offers therapeutic tiny homes and farm experiences that support healing, community resilience, and meaningful work in the outdoors.

Healing is a process. It takes time and it requires seeing your fellow humans through a different lens

Rethinking Human

Rethinking Human explores how our built systems, economies, and education can be redesigned so people thrive with more time, meaning, and ecological belonging.

Human-centered systems

Create practices and places that support human dignity, shared responsibility, and collective learning instead of extraction.

Community rhythms

Reimagine time, work, and play so communities can restore rest, participation, and ecological relationship.

Practical guidance

Build tools, stories, and learning experiences that make regenerative living easier for families and neighborhoods.

Grow Up and Play

Grow Up and Play combines child-led discovery, outdoor education, and community play to help young people develop confidence, creativity, and ecological awareness.

Play-rich design

We create safe, adventurous outdoor spaces that invite exploration, storytelling, and creative movement.

Learning by doing

Hands-on projects teach skills in gardening, building, cooking, and nature connection while keeping children engaged and inspired.

Family-led community

Parents and caregivers join the journey so play becomes a way to deepen relationships, support each other, and share resources.

Trash to Treasure: Clean and Restored

Trash to Treasure turns items and spaces others discard into restored, beautiful resources for community reuse and regeneration.

Cleaner public spaces

We pilot litter-removal, restorative planting, and welcoming street furniture to make streets safer and more inviting.

Restored corridors

Unsightly traffic zones become places to linger, meet, and discover local makers, artists, and food.

Treasure mapping

We document community assets and hidden possibilities so every restoration branch is anchored in local stories and care.

Shed Lite

This Initiative:

The Shed Life: Let Your Light Shine

Shed Lite is a play on words — 'lite' for a small footprint, and 'light' for the light that shines. We take donated wooden sheds and convert them into a plethora of outdoor structures: greenhouses, man caves, she sheds, playhouses, outdoor rooms, meditation houses, camping cabins, and more. We also build shed-adjacent structures like benches that double as planters and vine trellises. We encourage the shed life — the simple, the small, the refurbished.

Our Goal is The Simple, the Small, the Refurbished

Convert Donated Sheds
We receive donated framed wooden sheds and transform them into functional outdoor structures — greenhouses, she sheds, man caves, playhouses, meditation houses, outdoor entertaining rooms, and camping cabins.
Live in the Garden
We embody the permaculture philosophy that humans need to live in the garden and be outside even while in their structures. Shed Lite builds outdoor rooms that put people back in creation.
Small Footprint, Beautiful Purpose
Our structures are intimate but functional, beautiful but multi-purpose. Benches double as planters and vine trellises. Every build decreases the human footprint while maximizing meaningful outdoor life.
Refurbished and Restored
We recycle and strengthen donated sheds, and accept donated building materials to build new structures. Nothing is wasted. Everything is made useful and beautiful again — the shed life!

Sustainable gardening for the community

Permaculture Plants SC promotes sustainable agriculture through permaculture practices, providing communities with knowledge and resources for self-sufficient gardening.

Our Goal is Permaculture For Everybody

Plant Food Forests
We design perennial food systems that feed families for decades — trees, shrubs, and ground covers working together the way nature intended.
Teach to Self-Sustain
Our workshops and field days pass on the skills and patterns of permaculture so every household can grow its own abundance without depending on industrial supply chains.
Heal the Soil
Compacted, depleted earth becomes rich living ground when we stop tilling and start building. Our practices reverse damage and awaken the biological communities beneath our feet.
Seed Sovereignty
We steward an open-pollinated seed library so that the varieties suited to our climate stay in local hands — resilient genetics for a resilient community.

Tiny Village Healing Human Farms

This Initiative:

Healing through sustainable farming

Tiny Village Healing Farms provides therapeutic farming experiences that promote mental health, community building, and sustainable agriculture practices for healing and growth.

Our Goal is Healing Humans in Spiritual Community

Heal on the Land
Working with soil, plants, and seasons is one of the oldest forms of therapy known to humanity. Our farm creates structured time outdoors that settles the nervous system and restores hope.
Tiny Homes, Big Change
Small, thoughtful dwellings on farmland give our residents a stable, beautiful place to live while they rebuild relationship, rhythm, and purpose.
Village Workshops
Weekly gatherings around fermentation crocks, seed-saving, bread baking, and natural building teach practical skills and rebuild the sense that life is worth engaging.
Grow What Feeds You
Residents plant, tend, and harvest their own food — experiencing the deep satisfaction of providing for themselves and contributing to the table they share with neighbors.
